I'm going to detox my entire body and brain, beginning Monday, January 9, 2017 (and you can listen to today's podcast episode to learn what the random, strange photo above has to do with this).

Anyways, I'm not going to do just any ol' detox like putting cayenne pepper into a nasty concoction or pushing giant grocery shopping carts full of random herbs through the supermarket. These popular detoxes can actually release toxins from tissues such as fat cells and shove them into the brain, causing even more damage. Oops.

That's a bad thing.

Instead, I'm partnering up with one of the most brilliant detox minds on the face of the planet: the guy I interviewed in the podcast “The Most Effective Detox You’ve Never Heard Of (And Exactly How To Do It).” His name is Dr. Dan Pompa, and Dr. Dan is going to walk me through the entire brain and body detox program that he's studied and perfected for years.

I'm then going to combine his proven detox formula with my own exercise and biohacking protocols so that I can completely clean up my body without losing fitness by doing only, say, hot yoga and trampolining for weeks and weeks.

See, I don't want to come out of my detox having lost my muscle or having to huff and puff whenever I climb a flight of stairs, so I'm pulling out all my fitness tricks that allow me to sculpt my body while I detox, without actually causing adrenal fatigue issues or ruining the detox protocol.

And I'm inviting YOU to join me.

During today's solo podcast episode with yours truly, you'll discover:

-Why most detoxification programs can severely damage your body and brain…[6:55]

-What a “true cellular detox” is…[10:56]

-How to detox your body using a “Prep Phase”, a “Brain Phase” and a “Body Phase”…[17:53]

-The 5 strategies I'm personally using to ensure I don't lose fitness or muscle during my detox…[20:52]

-How fringe techniques like dry skin brushing, rebounding and infrared therapy can maximize the effectiveness of a detox…[29:00 – 39:45]

-The exact workouts I'll be performing during my detox…[30:00]

-Whether or not you should use the dietary strategy of ketosis during a detox…[46:00]

-The best fasting strategy to use during a detox…[41:25]

-How meditation can fit perfectly into a detox program…[41:38]

-How oil pulling can assist with detox…[49:00]

-Why fermented foods are crucial during a detox…[50:45]

-The crazy, unique tea blends I'll be using to accelerate my detox and wean myself off coffee…[53:50]

-And much more!

Ben – Will you have the same plan for this detox for Feb 2018?

    1. Very similar yes – you can get in here: http://www.detoxwithben.com

  2. Joe says:

Ben, are you going to do this special again with Dr. Pompa for 2018? Very interested.

    1. Not sure, stay tuned to my newsletter for updates! bengreenfieldfitness.com/newsletter

  3. Mitch says:

Hey man, curious about your results doing the TCD. I just finished the prep and moving into detox after an extended water fast. How’d it go? Thanks!!

    1. Complete and total detox. It knocked mercury and lead to rock-bottom and I feel amazing. I will do it again next year for sure.

  4. Mark. B says:

Hey Ben, I was just wondering when you know that you are clear on the “body” phase of detox and can move on to the brain phase? I feel depending on the person, it could take a month for some, and more for others.

  5. Monica says:

I just found your podcast and am obsessed thank you. I have a question about the brain part of the detox. You go into detail about all of the great things you are doing but when I reached the end I was waiting on the part when you explained how you detox the brain? Maybe I totally missed it. So I’m asking what specifically do you guys do to detox the brain that is different than other detoxes?

For those of us who are not quite ready for the full detox, which practices would you recommend doing in our daily/weekly life for a slow healthy detox? Or should I listen to more of your podcasts to get this answer?

I already do many of these practices on a regular basis and haven’t had any neuro issues. Although I didn’t start everything at once, they slowly just became part of my normal routine. The things I already do include: I’ve been in a strict ketosis for 6 weeks (but still trying to figure out dietary needs as I am an athlete/alpinist and trying to heal autoimmune problems), yoga and have a strong meditation practice, oil pulling, skin brushing, homemade bone broth, homemade raw goat milk kefir and sauerkraut, and Foundation Training. I mention these because I would like to ask if I should be doing something more specific to detox my brain?

Thanks for all the great advice and I look forward to listening to more of your podcasts!

    1. For brain detox, Dr. Pompa's full cellular detox is really the way to go, but there are some specific compounds that assist with brain detoxification. Curcumin is a big, big one. CBD also is somewhat effective. To setup a full program for you, I'd be happy to help you via a personal one-on-one consult. Just go to https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/coaching and then choose a 20 or 60 minute consult, whichever you'd prefer. I can schedule ASAP after you get that.

  6. Andrew Gee says:

    Hi

Quick question Ben, love your interview shows but you haven’t had a Q&A Special for months and months. What’s the craic please as my wife has a question pending? :-)

    Regards

    Andrew

    1. this Wed we start up again!

  7. Sven Gevers says:

    Hi Ben,

I’d like to know more about the decoction tea you mention you’ll be drinking during the detox.

It contains licorice tea, which, some studies suggest, decreases testosterone levels significantly. They reckon it’s the glycyrrhizic acid in it.

What are your thoughts on this?

    1. Meh. Some show increase, some show decrease. Like this: http://www.endocrine-abstracts.org/ea/0021/ea0021… and this https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21184804 – even the multiple testosterone reducing studies are low in sample size and highly variable in effect size. I don't see a reason to fear Glycyrrhizin intake below 500mg.

      1. Sven Gevers says:

Thanks for pointing out those studies! That looks a lot better.

  8. Christi says:

Hi Ben, try checking out Dr Klinghardt. He has a wealth of knowledge in this field and has been around for a long time. One of the best in Europe I would say. Whatever everyone is saying about detox nowadays, he preached it 10 years ago. He is on the leading edge and don’t just repeated the common ideas going around these days about detox. Would be nice if you could have him on your podcast.

  9. Mike P says:

Hey Ben, I’m thinking about doing this program, but I have a few questions before I spend this money (does there happen to be an 800-number I can call to speak with someone? lol)..

-Can I still do rock climbing at an indoor gym while doing this program?

-Can I still consume raw dairy (such as raw milk) while under this program?

-Also, due to my living situation, I am living with other relatives and I don’t have full control over what I eat, usually I eat a lot of meat with some vegetables and other foods. Would this be a hindrance to adhering to the program?

Thanks again, and yeah I just want to know before I withdraw money from my savings account to use for this program.

  10. Tina says:

    Hi Ben,

    Sounds like an awesome detox!

I’m actually interested in the research behind all the benefits you mentioned about massage? If you have a link to some of that data I would really appreciate it!

Thank you for your wonderful podcasts and great information!

  11. Hi Ben, I guess the hubby/wife combo is pretty popular! We are nervous, yet excited about the Detox/Challenge, but I was wondering about when we do the test? Is that before the challenge or after, or did I miss the video on TrueCellular about it? Also, for the rebounder & exercise portion- I do the Tracy Anderson Method which entails 1 hour of muscular structure & 1 hour of high intensity dance cardio on a Super G floor (crazy bounce like a rebounder). It’s all done in 90 degree heat w/75% humidity. Do you think I need to do sauna as well, or is that sufficient for heat shock? Thanks and I must say, this isn’t Ben-light (as I grade the stuff you recommend), this is def Full-throttle-Ben…but here we go!

    1. Log into your True Cellular Detox dashboard. It's all there!

Also, if you are doing that Tracy Anderson stuff, no need to throw in extra sauna!

  12. Wendy Garrett says:

Hi Ben, my husband and I have signed up for the detox. We have received the supplements, where do we access the training portal info for the rest of the information? Thank you and look forward to this awesome challenge… thanks

    1. check your email inbox tomorrow!

  13. Michael Penna says:

    Hey Ben,

1- can you provide a link for the explosive bodyweight exercises you mentioned in the podcast? I’ve never heard of those types of exercises before

2- you also mentioned Dr. McGuff’s body by Science program.. I’ve done that before, and it’s pretty intense (he says to work out using slow-reps to failure). Would it just be better to do slow reps without going to failure during a detox? Thanks

  14. Don says:

    Hi Ben,

On my first attempt to search zeolite I came across the link below. I realize this test has some flaws and the company sells its own detox supplement but I’d like to get your thoughts on it and would like to know if there are any studies you can link me to showing benefits of hydrolyzed zeolite or even zeolite as far as detoxing pesticides and or pharmaceuticals. Thank you for your time and the podcasts!

  15. Karissa Schwartz says:

Thanks Ben for being awesome and getting back with answers! Also,

    1) Any supplements recommended by my Zyto Scan…I should suspend for 3 months while detoxing?

    2) My husband will be detoxing & from your opinion (I will also ask my naturopath) would it be WISE for him to continue taking his Nature-Throid medication to balance his Hashimotos during this time? (as we plan to ween him off it)

    Thanks again!

    1. 1) totally depends on what supplements your ZytoScan recommends, but I'd try sticking to just the ones that come with your detox; 2) Yes, I'd say hubby should stay on thyroid! I am not a doctor and this is not to be taken, interpreted or construed as medical advice. Please talk with a licensed medical professional about this. These are just my own personal thoughts and not a prescription or a diagnosis or any form of health care whatsoever.

  16. Raymond says:

    Hi Ben,

I’m very much considering this program, it’s kind of what I’ve been looking for for a long time. My question is regarding the diet portion of this program; I eat pretty clean, low carb, I’m probably close to nutritional ketosis most of the time. However I don’t expect to be able to follow the diet portion of this program completely. To be honest I think i could comply like 50% tops, while complying as close to 100% with all the other aspects of this program. What do you think? would that negate and counteract the positive effects of this detox? Thanks in advance.

    1. The detoxes, biohacks, exercises, supplements, etc are covering 80% of the bases. I'll personally be in cyclic ketosis with nightly carbohydrate refeeds. The trick is to eat CLEAN more than to be in ketosis…

  17. Shannon says:

Ben – Very interested in joining but have a ski vacation already planned at the end of January. Will that be “too much” during the detox? I also do HIT training during the week (2-3x) and am wondering if this is to be eliminated as well? I am also assuming all booze is off limits?

    1. You can totally ski (I'll be snowboarding quite extensively during the course of the program) and I've also worked in a bunch of HIIT workouts into the routine that you get as part of the program. Finally, up to a glass of red wine (or other high antioxidant alcohol) per day is OK (and admittedly I'll probably be doing that), but for FASTEST results you'd eliminate just about any form of booze.

  18. simon liu says:

Thank you Ben! Long time fan first time commenting. I’m a chef at PaleoToronto and I’ll be working on a clean sourced Keto meal plan for the new years. If anyone needs help with the food aspect of this, I would be thrilled to help and give back to the community. Best way to connect is [email protected].

  19. Christina says:

    Ben,
I just signed up for the program. I have two questions:
    1. I’d like to know that all the bioidentical hormones that I am taking (pregnenelone, T3, testosterone, progesterone) will not in any way be affected by the detox protocol.
    2. I have tried a detox spray sold on Dr. Minkoff’s website, and had terrible results (I became more sensitive to everything and ended up with contact dermatitis). Are there any side effects of this detox protocol?
    Thanks!

    1. 1) There should be zero contraindications with your hormones. But I am not a doctor and this is not to be taken, interpreted or construed as medical advice. Please talk with a licensed medical professional about this. These are just my own personal thoughts and not a prescription or a diagnosis or any form of health care whatsoever; 2) This detox protocol is very closely monitored by Dr. Pompa and I and detoxes in a very gentle way. The only side effects should bigger than normal poops, occasional possible brain fog in first few days as you detox a bit, some soreness from the workouts and after that… feeling fantastic. ;)

  20. Rebecca says:

What are the supplements throughout the program? I’m breastfeeding, and want to check they aren’t contraindicated. I’d love to get rid of this brain fog, and be fully detoxed before getting pregnant down the road. It seems like the binding will keep toxins from eliminating into the blood and such my milk, but I don’t want to dry up yet. (My baby will be a year during this program.) I know it’s a lot, but thanks for all the knowledge you’re bringing us.

    1. As soon as you finishes breastfeeding you can do 90 day program then wait 90 days until getting pregnant. I would not recommend nor utilize this program to anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. Hope that helps.

  21. Dean says:

    Ben,

I have the first dvd Dr. Goodman put out, has much changed since then/ do i need the book? Also have you researched these guys yet? —-&gt ;http://www.sota.com

    1. Yeah, the new TrueToForm book is pretty killer….good update….I'll look into sota….

  22. Scott Dempsey says:

I’m glad you decided to give dry skin brushing a try. I know you like to say that running through the forest to be brushed by the trees and the rocks and grass counts as dry skin brushing . I also know how you like to use the car buffer on your abs and how it helps you with bowel movements . Since I started dry skin brushing, my bowel movements have never been the same. Every time I brush my abdomen, my next bowel movement in the morning feels incredible and copious.

  23. Daniel Sjöberg says:

    Hello,

I live in Sweden and signed up for the Challange a couple of days ago on 2016-12-20. Unfortunately I was now informed that swedish custums sort of frown upon some of the ingredients that were shiped. Specifically Saw Palmetto, NAC and Ginko Biloba apparently.

So I the shipment is getting returned to sender and I suppose I have no choice other than to unregister. Any thoughts about how to go about that process? What with refunds and whatnot?

    1. Hey Daniel – they should have been in contact and sorted you out. Let me know if you have any more questions.

  24. Sly says:

I would like to participate in the detox program BUT few things, I have histamine intolerance as well as I don’t tolerate foods high in thiols. It sounds like the diet portion and some supplements wouldn’t work for me OR would the detox actually fix all my dietary intolerances?

Is the urine challenge test included in the package?

    1. The detox is what you need, and the diet can work around your existing allergies. The supplants are taken by individuals with these allergies without problem but everyone's biochemistry is different so no matter what there is never a guarantee.
      Hope this helps .

  25. Julie Yenor says:

Hi Ben, I just signed up AGAIN for the Detox Challenge. I had signed up then got a refund as I didn’t think I was ready. Thank you for the podcast drawing me back in. Question; my husband would like to do this with me but realize that we probably do not need 2 of all the information offered. Do you have a discounted price that could include a spouse? He would like to take all the supplements and take the tests along with me. We just had all our amalgams out 1 week ago (Dr.Nunnally/Freeman in Marble Falls, TX). We are ready together and do trust both you and Dr. Pompa for guidance!! Thank you!

    1. Hi Julie, this is normally a 3K program and it has been reduced it to "cost" so there is no more discount unfortunately. I would jump on if you can, the price is so low it will likely never be this price again.

  26. Julie says:

Hi Ben! What’s the resource for the morning 5 minute exercises you do to “wake up your butt”? Thanks!

  27. Andrew says:

How long do you do this for? 10 days? 3 weeks? A month?

    1. Three months! It's going to be epic.

  28. Bradley says:

What would you recommend as the “gold standard” for heavy metal testing? My nutraeval by Genova labs came back high and I would like more verification before panic ensues and the whole house RO system is purchased!

    1. Have a listen to this and let me know if you have any questions: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2012/12/heavy-me…

  29. AJ says:

Ben, I absolutely fucking loved this podcast with just you and yourself ahahaha – I almost had to check if the speed was on 3x fast (or maybe someone else was on speed!? :P) as the you are like a live-steam encyclopaedia :P

You should do more like this!

Oh, and as a side note, I am the one who commented a couple months back about flying to London to see Raj – just got back a few days ago from a second visit, and have a third booked in 6 weeks. Needless to say, I am very happy and he is the first practitioner that I trust completely.

Saying this, because I think you would find it SO INTERESTING to interview him again – he is very familiar with the primal/Western A Price and ancestral principles, but also has very distinct ideas on a lot of things you cover, and also differing.

Some things I think you’d be interested on getting his perspective on are: fermented foods, chaga and medicinal mushrooms (namely, the 4 Sigmatic brand he has tested with me and found it to be inflammatory due to the quality – and he said he has found this to be the case with many clients).

He actually is AGAINST fermented foods (like sauerkraut and kimchee, etc) for 99% of his clients.

Not that I think he is right or wrong, but I just think it would be really interesting and you would be the perfect person to interview him! AND also on just how the bio-energetic testing system that he uses works. Would be fascinating!!!!!

  30. Scott says:

Hey Ben, I purchased John Douillard’s Eat Wheat Book, what page is that tea recipe on? I don’t need you to disclose the recipe here, just tell me the page number because I don’t see it anywhere – even searched the kindle version…

    1. I don't have the book on me right now but I guarantee were going to delve into it when I have him on the podcast and I guarantee it's in the book if you read it thoroughly. ;-) It's the tea that he talks about that coats the lining of the stomach that he drink several times per day.

  31. Karissa says:

Did I understand correctly that once the 100 spots are filled noone else will have ability to access this program indefinitely?

    Thanks

    1. That is indeed correct. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

  32. Bill says:

    Hi Ben,

Will you be taking the supplements that Wendy Myer’s sent you at the same time as this detox?

    1. No. I can't do all this at the same time. ;-)

  33. Ty Dandy says:

Jack Kruse says Redox before Detox… How can I tell if I have good enough redox before I take on this detox or is this not an issue with this particular program> Thanks a ton -Ty-

    1. In this case, we'll be working on both Redox and Detox simultaneously!

  34. Park Firebaugh says:

Given that Ben seemingly eats as clean as one can won’t his body naturally take care of ‘toxins” and what are the specific toxins that he is concerned about?

  35. leo says:

    Hi Ben,

What’s the difference between this and the cytodetox? I’m also excited about detoxing, but trying to quantify how much toxicity is in body so I can understand whether this makes sense and see progress from doing a program like this. The meta oxy tests seem to measure free radical damage, and I didn’t understand how that relates to toxicity, as my cursory look into malondialdeyde testing shows that this is more about how much anti-oxidant supplementation you should be taking. What’s the best test to take to understand how many toxins are in your body?

    1. Leo, I want to make sure I am following your questions right. When you say what is the difference between “this”- I am assuming you are referring to the True Cellular Detox.

So the Cytodetox is part of the of the system which is the True Cellular Detox. The Cytodetox is a real binder. This binder helps ensure toxin make their way completely out of the body of the cell. You would use Cytodetox as part of the True Cellular Detox for best results.

    2. Cyto is part of the system of True Cellular Detox. It is simply a real binder that helps the toxins make there way completely out of the body from the cell, but still needed in the system of True Cellular Detox for best results. The general toxicity test is very accurate unlike the urine or blood tests available.

  36. Jason R says:

    Hi Ben,

This is really exciting program I’d love to join. Could you please share how long this program will last? I don’t believe you mentioned a duration of time (I.e. Is this a one month endeavor or a multiple month protocol?). Look forward to hearing from you, thanks for all that you do!

  37. Michael says:

Few follow up questions from someone signed up… (I have about 16 questions)… just putting a few here:

    1. I get the concept of your “explosive move” workout. But, I’d like more details on what qualifies. Please add link to podcast with Nick on MMA regarding “explosive move” workout. Additionally, would love any references to workouts that qualify as “explosive move.” I’d like to start getting this into the routine now. So, I’m not figuring this out in January.

    2. How long do you plan on doing the explosive move workout?

    3. Can you include a link to a sample coconut oil for oil pulling routine? I’ve seen a wide range of coconut oils from quite viscous to butter.

    4. Any strips you’d recommend for measuring ketone levels?

    1. I'll be filling you in on ALL this since you already signed up when we have our first call and in the pdf I send out to everyone before that call. This is podcast with Nick: https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2016/12/nick-cur… – for the rest of it, honestly, give me a chance to finish writing out the whole program and I'll be answering all these questions in detail, but this is a good coconut oil (Nutiva): https://amzn.to/2gTuPCY and for Ketones I recommend Precision Xtra: https://amzn.to/2h2r55B

  38. Scott says:

Hey Ben, could you give John Douillard’s tea ingredients from his book are a link to a product?

    1. It's in the book! For anybody who signs up for the detox, the recipe will be included in the pdf.

  39. Richard says:

Hi Ben, another great podcast with useful information, My wife & I registered for the Detox Program with you and Dr. Pompa when you first announced it. I hope the products reach us in time as we are not in the US…. Anyway I have a couple of questions for yourself and or Dr. Pompa to answer….

    a. We are already on a comprehensive supplement program, that is duplicated in many, if not all, of the supplements in the packs, except cytodetox…. Of course we will not double up on supplements during the program, but should we continue with the other supplements, probiotics, enzymes etc?

    b. Unfortunately we do not have in infrared sauna, only a hot rock type sauna and a pool currently, at sixteen celsius, good for a quick thermogenisis dip. Whilst we may not recieve the cellular benefit from infrared, I assume there are still beneficial effects during the detox program from a standard sauna?

    c. You mentioned in the podcast today about cavitations in the jaw behind wisdom teeth, this is great as it is something rarely mentioned. I recently had all amalgam removed at a Biological Dental Clinic here in Switzerland. The dentist also suggested the removal of NICOs (neuralgia inducing cavitational osteonecrosis), which are pockets of toxins stored by the body behind the wisdom teath eventhough mine are in tact and untouched by a dentist. Is it suggested that the detox program should cause the NICO to reduce, if not disappear?

    d. Is it recommended no alcohol consumption during the program?

    Thanks for your feed back.

    Cheers.

    1. Great questions and these are the type of things that will get answered during program, but in brief…ONLY use the supplements you get in the program for now. Yes on the sauna although infrared detoxes faster than hot rock, but still plenty of benefits from rocks. The detox will help tremendously with the removal of NICOs, and no or very little alcohol during this challenge!

    2. karliin says:

      Hi Richard

YOu mentioned that you visited a biological dental clinic in Switzerland. Possible to share info on said clinic? I happen to be in the market.

      Thank you.

  40. Sean R. says:

Hi Ben, looks like a great protocol and I would like to join in on the cleanse however Dr. Pompa states the first of five R’s is remove which he gives an example of silver fillings. I have silver fillings and am in the process of choosing a natural dentist to have them removed. Should the fillings be removed prior to doing the cleanse? I may not be able to have them removed and ready for January 9th. Would I still be able to do the program? Will you do this again in the near future? Thanks,

  41. Lisa Caton says:

Hello Ben. Thank you for this. I always love all that you share with us. I believe in you and Dan Pompa and find that you both, along with Dr. Mercola, are giving out the best up to date health research out there. I would love to do the cellular detox in January, but to be honest it is SUPER expensive, and way out of price range for someone like me. I know it gives incredible value, supplements, support, and is worth the price, but I dont have that kind of money for a detox. Any suggestions, or ideas for a program for people who cant afford that price? Maybe you and Dr. Pompa can make a detox that is affordable, so that more people can do it, and receive the health benefits as well. I look forward to seeing something like that created and offered. Thank you.

    1. You could START with Cytodetox…I go into all that here.. <a href="http:// .https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2016/08/what-is-cyto-detox/” target=”_blank”> <a href="http://.https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2016/08/what-is-cyto-detox/” target=”_blank”>.https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/2016/08/what-is-cyto-detox/
