Imagine a stadium full of screaming fans.

Zoom in on the contestants. They're sweating from the intensity of the competition. What could it be? Boxing? MMA? Basketball? Tennis? American ninja warrior?

Nope.

It's electronic sports, also known as eSports, and the “athletes” are headset-wearing, energy-drink-guzzling, smart-drug-popping gamers.

And this sport is booming.

Top eSports tournaments now draw audiences that rival the biggest traditional sporting events, and live streams online routinely attract more than 100,000 viewers. Companies like Coke, Nissan and   Red Bull sponsor tournaments, and last year alone, over 205 million people watched or played eSports.

As a matter of fact, today's eSports tournaments rival practically any big sporting event. The League of Legends Championship sold out Staples Center in 2013, then sold out the 40,000-seat World Cup Stadium in Seoul a year later while drawing an online audience of 27 million — more than the TV viewership for the final round of the Masters. Videos of these online gaming sports has more YouTube followers than news, movies and education combined.

There's money in this too. Check out the graphic below from ESPN:

But eSports isn't just online fun and money. There are some serious health risks involved with this sport. There's drugs. There's drug testing.  There is the potential physiological effects of having your senses constantly bombarded by blue light, blue tooth and Wi-Fi.

So, in today's podcast, were going to take a deep dive into the crazy world of eSports. My guest today is Zach Burks, founder of a nootropic and smart drug company called NuSups. Zach started his career serving the USA in the Army, then moved to business with the knowledge he gained, and now specializes in enhancing mental and physical performance in gamers.

In today's episode, you're going to discover:

-How the exploding world of eSports works behind the scenes…

-The physical fitness demands of playing eSports…

-The health and sleep implications of the constant exposure to Wi-Fi, bluelight, Bluetooth and the other electronic assailants eSports athletes face…

-The “under-the-radar” kind of smart drugs or supplements these athletes are using…

-The difference between supplements used as stimulants and supplements used for calming effects…

-How drug testing in eSports works…

-The best smart drug and nootropic stacks being used in gaming…

-And much more!

A few example stacks with some average results listed below. Feel free to use this stack is you'd like the results listed.

Busy Mode:

20mg x Noopept

200mg x Phenylpiracetam

1gram x ALCAR

250mg x Adrafinil

This stack is something you will DEFINITELY feel. I call this the busy mode stack for one reason. The combination of Racetams and Adrafinil allow for complete focus as well as potential time dilation effects. You could tweak the amount of Adrafinil or Phenylpiracetam if this stack is too much for you: just lower the amounts by 50mgs.

Capital C(reativity) stack:

500mg x Aniracetam

150mg x Phenylpiracetam

300mg x Pyritinol

20mg x Noopept

150mg x L-Theanine

This stack is great for any artist or creative person who needs an extra boost for a project. This stack honestly bothers me sometimes because what happens to me is that I'll have 5 to 7 songs get stuck in my head a day: songs I haven't heard in years! Now obviously, this is highly personal and won't happen to everyone. But it's just a nice little way to explain the creative boost you'll get.

Found this link while researching suppliments. It got me thinking twice about piracetam now.

    1. james says:

  2. Tyler Eakes says:

Hey what happened to Nusups? The website is no longer up…

    1. We're looking into it – stay tuned!

  3. Thelma says:

Ben, I order one of the nootropics from Sack’ s site and entered the Brainyben1 and I received a 10% discount but not free shipping as you said we would . How do I address this?

    1. NuSups says:

Yes! Thank you for your order, sorry that this happened, normally free shipping is only when you order more than $50. But you’ve been returned the shipping cost. Thank you for reaching out!

  4. David Neilsen says:

    Hey Ben

You did an interview, I cant remember the guys name at the moment. But, you spoke about a dietary supplement Called “ciltep”. A so called smart drug enhancing focus, memory. How do you think it compares to the stack you received from zack burks? I only ask since you have tested both.

    1. it is like comparing apples and oranges because CILTEP is comprised of all-natural ingredients, while the stack that I received from Zach is more chemical based. Both work differently but the stack Zach sent is more "instant"…yet tougher on liver.

      1. David Neilsen says:

Thank you for replying so quickly. I just wanted to say that I love your podcast. You really do an amazing job, I have learned a ridiculous amount of information. It’s all information that I have applied to my life, changing my perception on how I view situations. You have changed my mindset, giving my that ability to conquer the things that have kept me stagnant for so long. Once again, Thank You!

  5. Rob says:

Ben what is the name of the green powder that you use I. Smootbies with spirulena

  6. Tiffany says:

Hey Ben! I was going to grams some of the Nootropics… they are almost ALL sold out! Any idea when will they be back in stock?

    1. If they are from NuSups, I have no idea – you'll have to ask them!

  7. Jason says:

On the lover cleanse stack, how long should it be taken and the amount of each product to complete the cleanse?

    1. For a liver cleanse that uses things like NAC and glutathione, you should really even need to use it more than just the morning after you've had a lot of alcohol or you had a pharmaceutical. It's not one of those things you have to do for 30 days or anything like that. That's assuming you're taking care of your body and that your forays into things that beat up your liver are simply few and far between. for really targeted advice and for me to take a look at your supplement protocol and diet, I'd be happy to help you via a personal one-on-one consult. Just go to https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/coaching. and then choose a 20 or 60 minute consult, whichever you'd prefer. I can schedule ASAP after you get that.

  8. William Allen says:

I tried to place an order from the limited stock that was available but couldn’t complete the purchase because I don’t have an account and there is no place to create on.

  9. MikeyG says:

His site doesn’t work and majority of his supps all say sold out. Some of these things did sound interesting..will keep checking back but so far no success.

  10. GenevaDiva says:

Just for fun: what would be an ideal set of nootropics for increasing your cognitive performance while doing math homework? Would that be more of a “creative” (“right brain”) stack, or a “grind” (“left brain”) stack? Thanks :)

  11. Nova says:

Hey Ben, I’ve heard this mentioned a few times on the show now, and wanted to clarify it for you going forward. Adderall is not the same as modafanil (brand name Provigil). They are completely different drugs.

This guest was subpar compared to your usual guests. Just saying, the dude couldn’t pronounce acetylcholine correctly.

  12. Scott says:

What was the stack or nootropic he recommended for boosted mood around family ? I went o his site but didn’t see it listed

    Thanks

    1. Chris says:

Did you find out what that stack was?

  13. Kevin Jones says:

Any info on the long term side effects of these nootropics? I was also wondering how good of a nootropic sunifiram is?

    1. We haven't covered Sunifram, if you call it into the podcast we can cover it on there speakpipe.com/bengreenfield

  14. Graeme says:

I’m curious what is the drug used for ‘HD Vision’ I actually have a visual impairment and I’m curious to experiment with it and see if it has any short-term benefits to my eye condition.

And is it sold on his site… the word (core) I think was in the name of the drug

Hope to hear back from you

    best,

    G

  15. Jennifer says:

I am a big fan and am usually very impressed with your guests but this particular podcast for sure was not of the usual quality. I am a physician, psychiatrist to be specific and by and large was very concerned about the level of knowledge and the aloofness of this particular guest regarding the drugs and how they are used in performance. I don’t think he was well educated and was not in line with the usual health theme. These medications can be damaging. Many of them are controlled by the FDA and Vyvance is a schedule 2. It is not a medication I will prescribe due to it’s metabolites and it is highly abused and potentially very dangerous. I don’t want to come off as overly critical but I did turn this one off. It is not just that I do not agree or was someone concerned about his lack of knowledge it was honestly more about the lack of emphasis on the serious dangers physiologically of modafinil. He sounded like he pops it like candy.

    1. Seth says:

Ben, I completely agree that this guy was uneducated about the products he is selling. I’m currently a med school student, so I’ve got a pretty decent background in this area. His mispronunciation of almost all the neurotransmitters and his own products gave me a good laugh :). This guy almost seems to be as legit as Wim Hof. I feel like many of the listeners could pick up on the total BS…

  16. Randy says:

Bizarre pronunciation of modafinil and racetams. Kinda scares me to buy from him.

  17. Steve says:

I love Ben Greenfield but let me just say this was the worst week ever to turn your video game addict brother on to a fitness podcast..

  18. Owen says:

Any advice/dangers with using these for ultra endurance events?

    Thanks

  19. Matt Colby says:

Now with steroids taken away from gamers, I think there will be less instances of “nerd rage!” Lol.

Anyways I was wondering if the neuropeptide Orexin is the arousal “hormone” that Zach said modafinilinin and adrafinilinin worked on?

Good stacks there. Uridine would be a good addition as well.

    Good work guys!

    -Matt

  20. René says:

Looking at Zachs website and it does not work on two browsers…

    1. We'll contact him ASAP…

      1. VM says:

I had the same experience. Also all the products from the podcast are SOLD OUT. When will they be available? Thanks – this was the most amazing podcast. I can’t wait to try these stacks for productivity!

  21. Gordon says:

What was up with the way he pronounced the names of the smart drugs ??

  22. Anthony says:

Was interested in the Liver Cleanse haha

    1. Leah says:

What is going on? This is the first time I’ve heard of any of this? Are these gamers healthy? Is this advocated as part of superhuman healthy life?
