In the podcast “The Non-Pill, Natural Alternative To Viagra That Instantly Fixes Erectile Dysfunction, Boosts Drive In Men & Women, Enhances Orgasm & Much More.” I interviewed Dr. Richard Gaines about how he uses something called “Acoustic Sound Wave Therapy” in both men and women to enhance orgasms, drive, blood flow, size, sexual pleasure and much more.

But Dr. Gaines specializes in much more than simply sound wave therapy, and in today's show, I invite him back to talk about testosterone injections, growth hormones, PRP, SARMs, anti-aging and beyond. If you've ever wondered how one uses injections and needles to build muscle, lose fat, defy aging or enhance sexual performance, this episode is a must-listen.

Richard Gaines, MD, FAARM, ABAARM, is a leading practitioner of the rapidly evolving science of physician-guided age management. Since 1993 he has been administering hormone therapy and sexual wellness treatments, which have helped hundreds of men regain their self-confidence and live longer healthier lives! Dr. Gaines graduated from the Boston University School of Medicine in 1981, and subsequently obtained his Fellowship at Harvard Medical School.

In 2005 Dr. Gaines founded HealthGAINS, an anti-aging medical practice, where he resolved to find a new approach to ageing well, particularly for men struggling with age-related sexual performance issues. Today, Dr. Gaines has published 3 books, including one specifically on erectile dysfunction.

He remains at the forefront of creating innovative sexual wellness treatments, including the development of his revolutionary new treatment protocol for erectile dysfunction, GAINSWave™. Dr. Gaines understands how sexual performance can affect your self-esteem, and can impact every aspect of your relationships. Over the years he has helped thousands of men enjoy a happy and healthy sex life with his breakthrough sexual wellness treatments. Looking forward, his goal is to have men develop a deeper understanding of how and why their ability to perform changes with age. Additionally he aims to expose the many myths and misconceptions that there are about sexual wellness, and continue to lead the way in developing treatments, such as the GAINSWave™, that treat the root causes of ED and other age-related sexual issues.

During our discussion, you'll discover:

-The fascinating story of how growth hormone is made by bacteria in a laboratory setting…[14:20]

-The difference between sermorelin (Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone) and actual growth hormone…[16:30]

-What the “sweet spot” value is for levels of Insulin Like Growth Factor is (and why there actually isn't an association between high IGF-1 and cancer!)…[23:15 & 24:36]

-Whether hormone therapy is “safe” and whether it shuts down the body's own natural production…[28:00]

-Why Dr. Gaines recommends taking one type of growth hormone in the morning and a different type of growth hormone in the evening…[32:00]

-How to keep your “balls from shrinking” when using testosterone…[39:45]

-When somebody takes a testosterone injection, whether they should only inject testosterone, or take other things at the same time…[44:10]

-What Dr. Gaines thinks about alternatives to testosterone injections, such as one popular supplement of late called “SARMs”…[44:30]

-The “P-shot” and “O-shot” that Dr. Gaines administers in his clinic, and how they work for enhancing sexual performance…[49:25]

-And much more!

    Hi Ben,

Thank you for your great podcasts!

I discovered your work after buying your book (& audiobook) ‘Beyond Training’. I have so many questions from binging on your podcasts this past weekend and reading your book. I am a ‘budding’ 44-year-old triathlete. After suffering adrenal burnout after the Ironman 70.3 in January I have been looking a completely new approach to my health, fitness and vitality… a “reboot” if you will.

Following this podcast, and the podcast with Stephan Guyenet, I would like to pose a question to you and Dr Gaines.

I have a, in my mind, a unique situation and have been grappling with it. I do not have a pituitary gland (according to an MRI done by my endocrinologist) and have been getting quarterly testosterone injections (Nebido) for the past three years to address that part of my physiology. After my burnout in January, my system completely shut down and I have battled with my energy and focus, causing a huge knock-on effect. I have picked up weight and have not been able to train.

My urologist has now prescribed testosterone cream that I use daily. Are there any other treatments I can look at or investigate to supplement/ complement the testosterone for my recovery, energy and weight loss? I am getting back into training now and know there is no quick fix, but I am sure there are ways to kickstart my system.

    Kind regards

    Greg

    1. Yes, a ton you can do. I can definitely help. I'd be happy to help you via a personal one-on-one consult. Just go to https://bengreenfieldfitness.com/coaching. and then choose a 20, 30 or 60 minute consult, whichever you'd prefer. I can schedule ASAP after you get that.

  4. Good read! Thanks for sharing this informative article. But I still do have some questions though. I’ve been researching about HGH and testosterone for quite sometime now and I read a news that testosterone injections are illegal? And also, can HGH really increase libido? And lastly, is it safe? Is HGH safe for long-term purposes? How about short term?

    Thanks!

    1. We cover all of this in detail in this podcast!

  5. Lois says:

Thank you for this great information. My husband contacted a local provider of the acoustic sound wave therapy and was told it only lasts 2 years. I did not hear you or Dr. Gains mention this in the podcast. Is this true?

  6. Tim says:

    Ben – great show.

You’ve talked before about BPC orally for gut repair, but Dr Gaines said that peptides didn’t get absorbed when taken orally. Thoughts?

Also – what sites are legit for getting these research chemicals?

  7. Marnie says:

Great episode and on target with my quest for more information regarding being a woman, aging.. 46, amateur figure competitor and just now starting T cream. I can’t find enough info on what levels are appropriate for a female athlete who was natural… until now, and since I’m taking T and finally feeling normal again, what levels can still be normal and safe, if its going up and out of normal range… and the possibility of getting the additional benefits of a performance boost. I went from having a total Test level of 12 to 109 in 5 weeks, and then 2 weeks later 230. My free test is still pending but was originally less than .01 Can you offer some reading material? Plenty of info out there on juicing for the male athlete, but I want to know about HRT for the female aging athlete. Keto helped tremendously with balancing what hormone production I have/had. Thank you!!!

  8. Thomas says:

    Hey Ben,

    Great show man.

Quick question about SARMs, would injecting them subcutaneous or taken orally be more effective? ( like a stack of rad 140 and mk 677). I know you don’t use them, but if you did which route would you take? Thanks.

    1. They have never been developed or studied for this (injecting) so i’d stick to what data is factual and known.

  9. Natalie says:

    Ben,

Loved this podcast! I am a female that has been taking testosterone. I’ve been reducing my levels (I use pellets) But I’ve noticed that over the last year or so I’ve been having trouble losing weight and my body stores more fat. Do you know if women develop a dependency on testosterone or have a higher rate of turning T into estrogen?

  10. Eric says:

    Hi Ben

Good podcast. I am an age management physician ( my practice is similar to what Dr. Gaines does) as well. We also do the P shot and the O shot. We have actually done more of the latter than any other provider in the country. Dr. Runels (the inventor of the P and O shot) trained us and we are actually good friends. He comes to see us often (and will be in to see us next month). I’m also expanding my business into an online consulting/education company and would love to have you on my show and/or do an interview down the road to “talk shop.” Happy to discuss hormones, PRP etc

Thanks and have a great week

Ben, Dr. Gaines. Thanks for a great episode and all you do.

38 yo male here. Have been on Clomiphene for over couple of years now. All testosterone issues have been ‘solved’, however I have been intrigued by Dr. Gaines’ comment on side effects of Clomiphene.

Could you, please, share those with me.

    Thank you

    Peter

Semorelin is a waste of $$$. Too slow, too expensive. Many better options like Ipamorelin for example.

    Great show Ben !!!

Thank you for such solid info . I have a few questions about TRT ? And HGH ?

I thought testosterone administered through injections is illegal ? Also I was told by my hormone doctor that HGH can only be used on children ? He said it can’t be prescribed to adults legally ?

Also if one is getting testosterone to inject what would be a safe amount to inject ? Example 250mg once a week in a 56 year old , would this be considered safe ? I’m asking cause there was no mention of what a safe dose is on the show ?

    Thanks !!
